Song, song, song.

Bungaloo Punta Cometa.

It's simple, I like it because it's different.
Soft Pop, great for relaxing. Maybe taking a drink and losing yourself in an extraordinary world.

Interpreted by the mexican band Plastilina Mosh, from their album Aquamosh (1998), with Café Tacuba singing the chorus in japanese.

Today's Musical Project

I really love music!, so now you know why I post so many songs. Actually, I always use music as a background for doing stuff, almost any kind of work. That's why today I'm gonna post another song... Hehe!

Now, it's the turn of Gorillaz. I know this group because of my brother. He used to listen to them on the TV, and nowadays I hear them.

Their music is a combination of rock, synth, sometimes melodic voices and a bit of hip-hop rhythm. The special feature of this band is that they're part of a virtual world. How is this possible? Well, the musicians are represented by animated characters, like cartoons and they live in an odd world. This band is conformed by four "people":
2D: vocalist, melodics and keyboard.

Murdoc: who plays the bass.
.
Russel: drums and percussion

Noodle: guitar, keyboard and rarely sings.
One fascinating things, is that in their videos they represent this odd and alternative world, an animated space where they always tell a story with their music.

Furthermore, if you go to their website, you could find games starring by these guys, you could be able to listen to their albums and son on. Here's the link: Gorillaz

And finally the songs of the day, interpreted by this interesting musical project:

Nite nite.

And now some of Radiohead... Fake Plastic Trees.

Fake Plastic Trees-Radiohead.mp3

Here's the lyric:

Her green plastic watering can
For her fake Chinese rubber plant
In the fake plastic earth
That she bought from a rubber man
In a town full of rubber plans
To get rid of itself

It wears her out, it wears her out
It wears her out, it wears her out

She lives with a broken man
A cracked polystyrene man
Who just crumbles and burns
He used to do surgery
For girls in the eighties
But gravity always wins

It wears him out, it wears him out
It wears him out, it wears...

She looks like the real thing
She tastes like the real thing
My fake plastic love
But I can't help the feeling
I could blow through the ceiling
If I just turn and run

And It wears me out, it wears me out
It wears me out, it wears me out

And If I could be who you wanted
If I could be who you wanted all the time.

Do lemmings really commit suicide? Think about it.

After hearing about the lemming suicides I wanted to search more about them. So,first of all I searched what are those interesting creatures. What are Lemmings? They are small rodents which live in the Artic. Having that clear, I started looking for deeper information about their suicide behavior.

First of all, I found an interesting scene in the documentary White Wilderness, that supports the idea about the suicide. According to the documentary this is caused by the overpopulation of this rodents, they feel frustrated and tried to look for a new place to live, but not having in mind the climate and soil conditions. So they drop to the ocean and after a time they feel tired and die. However, it was found that these specially scene was created and the scenarios, I mean, the place where the film had part didn't accord to the place where the lemmings live, so it was a made up scene for the Disney's documentary. A filthy trick in my opinion.

Nevertheless, I didn't really trust in this information so I decided to look up for more.. And I discovered the truth, as I see. Well, this misconception has transcended for many years, since the documentary, which was made 1958, fifty-four years of fake information! But the truth it's more difficult to understand... Here's some of what I read:

Lemmings aren't suicidal. Some researches collected data for over fifteen years, they found that the populations of the rodents increase from a hundreds to over 1000, that makes the predator number to increase, which cause the number of the population to fall. After this, comes the lack of lemmings that cause the same effect, a low number of predators. This is called "Predator-prey cycles", this cycle take place every four years.
At least lemmings have good jumps. Might a Front Flip or a Reverse help?

The study was published in Thursday's issue of the weekly U.S. journal Science by Olivier Gilg and Ilkka Hanski of the University of Finland, and Benoit Sittler of the University of Freiburg in Germany.

Finally, the truth was released. It's fake the myth of the suicide lemmings. They just suffer the episodes of overpopulation, and so on. So before believing in sometimes that we're not sure about. We should make a deep research, you never know what coul happen if we still believe in this misconceptions. We have to open our mind and think before act.

Here's an interesting video with interviews of this topic. Enjoy it!

The show you might watch...

Misfits

The British TV channel E4 launched a show on September 2009, called Misfits, a group of teenagers who were facing the problem of working in a community service program; they obtained superpowers after a storm and accidentally killed their monitor and so on. This science fiction entertainment might fascinate you because:

On one hand, the supernatural effect on each character attracts you to discover what they can do. The stories are told in a way that everyone’s connected with the other. It’s easy for you to understand what the roles of the characters are. Even though it’s a sci-fi show it involves comedy and drama scenes which make the series more interesting.

On the other hand, the TV show isn’t suitable for kids, so you shouldn’t watch it with your family. Anyway, it’s hard to realize how the actors were changed in the last seasons; this change may be a collapse for the series. Furthermore, the chapters are only available online.

Despite of the disadvantages, I could say that during the first seasons I was so excited that I wanted to see more; just waiting for the next episode to be released and see how their powers changed by time. I recommend you to watch Misfits now. You won’t regret it.

Here you have the link with the three seasons in English:

Enjoy!

Tonight's hit:

Camaro - Kings of Leon

Twelfth song from the album Because of the Times (2007).
A mix of rock, weird voice and a great acoustic.

¿Do you know who's behind this can?

Almost all we've seen this picture before... This design made a revolucionary change in art. It's difficult to understand why this peculiar design was so popular. In fact, the Campbell's design was part of a artwork called The 32 Campbell's Soup Cans. Well, this singular drawing is the beginner for the movement called Pop Art; which emerged by the latest 50s. But, what is this? It's a controversial movement 'cause it involves the "popular" or common things, in a colorful represantion of them. This kind of art doesn't represent the art in his totall but the attitudes that pop culture has.

One of the most popular artist in this movement was the american Andy Warhol (1928-1987), who made art so controversial for those times. He began as an advertisment illustrator.
Furthermore, he was a writer, film director and helped the music group Velvet Underground to release some of their albumes; such as The Velvet Underground & Nico in 1967.

However, he was better at art than as a producer. An interesting fact is that Andy Warhol sold a canvas, similar to the one in the image, for 60.000 dollars! I mean, that's crazy. Despite of that expensive cost his art is well-known nowadays.

Here's some of his work:

Marilyn Monroe, american actress.
Mickey Mouse, cartoon from Walt Disney.

Mao Zedong, chinese communist revolutonary.
Cover album from The Velvet Underground.

"What's great about this country is that America started the tradition where the richest consumers buy essentially the same things as the poorest. You can be watching TV and see Coca-Cola, and you know that the President drinks Coca-Cola, Liz Taylor drinks Coca-Cola, and just think, you can drink Coca-Cola, too. A Coke is a Coke and no amount of money can get you a better coke than the one the bum on the corner is drinking. All the cokes are the same and all the cokes are good. Liz Taylor knows it, the President knows it, the bum knows it, and you know it." - Andy Warhol.

And finally a song from Velvet Underground:
Sweet Jane - Velvet Underground

Another song

Jessy
Today's song is from the alternative rock genre, interpreted by a mexican singer whom I reaaally like:

Jessy Bulbo was the bass player and singer of a mexican group called "Ultrasónicas", but she decided to start a new group.  This new experience failed so she started singing alone.

By 2007, a new album was released Saga Mama, with the single Maldito and suddenly, by 2009 she released his second material on 2008 called Taras Bulba, with the singles Comal, Experiencia Cítrica. And finally, Telememe on 2010, his last album which I dowload it for free :D, well, the songs I liked tho most were: La Cruda Moral, which I enterely loved! That song express how I feel almost all the time, and  Quiero Ser Tu Destino. Both are great songs.

Her songs may not like to all the audience, they seem dumb or incomprehensible, but she's a natural representation of the talent that Mexico's have.

Note: the song will be played automatically...

Tapers

Well...
Now I have a certain addiction to piercings, yeah, may sound weird or whateva but... It's something I'm liking, sincerely a lot... But I don't want to give more details about that.
The reasons for me to write this is because I bought these ones (look for the image):
Colorful

What are those for? Well, these cute things are used for expanding ears. It's a controversial topic, young people want to be different so having plugs and tapers could affect my future, but I0m sure about this for now. Also, mine are color clear on the right ear, and black with red on the left one. I just wanted to write something about things I like... For example piercings and related. :]

On my next entry I'll talk more about "Misfits", the sitcom which I spoke of in the previous post. I'll write a review of it.

Song of the day...

Echoes - The Rapture.

I heard this band time ago, like two years more or less... I like their music, firstly 'cause they're kind of alternative, and that's good. Well, the fact is that I saw this sitcom called "Misfits" and the song was the intro of every chapter, so it was on my mind all the day. Here's the song...

The song will be automatically played in Streampad (playlist for blog)

Animals in captivity

Dear Editor,

I am writing in the hope that I can do something for animals’ lifestyle, specifically wildlife in zoos. The manner in which they live is the least effective; they’re caught in captivity for no reason but pleasure and entertainment. For example, the Tamatan Zoo’s tiger isn’t prepared for confinement even though tigers are a lonely species. Zoo management shouldn’t be able to take animals to subsist in this cruelty.

Tiger
Nevertheless, some endangered species have been saved from smugglers, this could be the mainly reason why zoos are working nowadays. But, zoo’s animals are living in suffering, handling with diseases and abuse from their zookeepers. Also, it’s right to mention that animals die earlier; they don’t have sufficient space for living in and they may experience psychosis because of their confinement.

After all, there’s a well-thought plan done for solving this problem; natural reserves, which are protected areas, especially for preserving wildlife, such as animals, flora and geological features. In this way, people could care more about animals’ life and teach their kids to respect our animal friends.
